GrainPro believes in helping create communities that have safe, nutritious, and accessible food.
Smallholder farmers, which account for the operations of 85% of the world’s farms, are especially vulnerable to post-harvest losses, so helping them and their families is a must.
By developing solutions and services that preserve food quality and quantity, GrainPro has impacted millions of people worldwide.
This includes 2,816,633* individual smallholder farmers, plus their families and surrounding communities from 2019 up to the present. This has been done by mitigating issues like lack of storage infrastructure, pest control, aflatoxin growth, and more.
At the same time, GrainPro has also helped communities by providing education through seminars and workshops that discuss better post-harvest management techniques and solutions. Geoffrey Krop Toung'ole, a Kenyan farmer and GrainPro Associate, is a testimony to how one individual can impact whole communities by sharing knowledge and experience.
GrainPro strives to continue positively impacting millions of people worldwide by creating smarter and affordable post-harvest systems. This will benefit not only farmers and their families but also consumers worldwide who can access healthy, nutritious, and affordable food.

430,816,547* kilograms of crops have been conserved so far.
According to the World Food Programme, one-third of the food produced globally is lost each year. This loss contributes to massive food insecurity and hunger, especially in developing countries where 40% of these losses occur at post-harvest and processing levels. This is why GrainPro’s goals and actions aim to help in preserving as much food as possible.
Saving 430,816,547* kilograms of crops could potentially feed 4,558,905* households in Sub-Saharan Africa for a month.
This has significant potential impacts on achieving food security, especially in vulnerable areas with high populations and little accessible food supplies.
The food stored in GrainPro solutions not only retains quantity but quality as well. Dorcas Jepkorir, a smallholder woman farmer in Kenya, has been able to cook nutritious meals for her family because her maize stored in GrainPro bags is chemical-free, has no insects, and has more nutritional value. This gives her the peace of mind that her children are receiving the nutrients they need.
Throughout the drying, transport, and storage steps of the post-harvest process, GrainPro solutions consistently aim to aid farmers and traders so that their commodities are safe from quality degradation, premature germination, pest infestations, erratic weather conditions, and more.
$129,244,964* has been saved by food producers and traders to date.
Mismanagement during the post-harvest process can have serious consequences for farmers' livelihood and income. When farmers lose a portion of their yield or the quality of their harvested commodities, they also lose their potential earnings--rendering their farms unsustainable.
Since dry agricultural commodities are susceptible to damage and losses during the drying, storage, and transport stages, implementing proper post-harvest management is vital in reducing losses. GrainPro's hermetic and climate-smart solutions assist farmers all over the world in addressing these post-harvest issues by protecting commodities, thereby increasing or even doubling their profits. Since 2019, farmers and traders have saved $129,244,964* in value.
In Pakistan, one smallholder farmer increased their income by 25% by storing their red chili peppers in GrainPro Hermetic Bags provided by Haji Sons, GrainPro's partner distributor.
Preserving the value of agricultural commodities directly affects the livelihood of food producers and traders. By investing in hermetic solutions, farmers can decrease or even eliminate the use of chemical preservatives. This increases the value of their commodities while decreasing costs in operations, making farms and businesses more sustainable and environment-friendly.
In the US, Julian and Heidi Zepeda, owners of a tortilla company, were able to recreate traditional recipes from organic heirloom maize. Through GrainPro solutions, they overcame issues with insect infestation without resorting to chemical use, which would have damaged both their maize and their reputation for only using organic maize.
GrainPro is committed to continually having a beneficial impact on food production and distribution. Having a collaborative and open relationship will ensure that the opportunities that hermetic post-harvest solutions bring will improve the lives of food producers and consumers alike.
