Securing the Harvest. Sustaining the Future.
Every year, the world produces enough food to feed its population — yet a significant share is lost after harvest. This loss is not inevitable, but preventable.
At GrainPro, we are proud to stand at the forefront of that prevention. For more than three decades, we have worked to protect what farmers grow — delivering post-harvest solutions that reduce spoilage, improve quality, and help build more resilient, climate-smart food systems.
The outcomes presented in this report reflect what is possible when technology, trust, and shared commitment come together. From hermetic storage and solar drying, to transport protection and traceable plastic recovery, the progress documented here was made possible by the forward-thinking clients and partners who not only implement these solutions, but also take part in closing the loop — by returning used packaging for recycling. Your leadership turns innovation into impact.
This work is not just about preserving food. It’s about protecting livelihoods, reducing waste, and creating a more secure, sustainable future — for everyone.
Thank you for being part of this ongoing mission. Together, we’re not only preserving food — we’re preserving possibilities.

A Foodful Future
Food security is determined not only by the amount of food we produce, but also by how well we protect it after harvest and throughout the value chain.
Despite sufficient global production, hunger and poverty persist. Each year, approximately 1.3 billion tonnes of food are lost or wasted, while an estimated 783 million people face hunger and food insecurity. Innovation, collaboration, and responsible practices can turn this challenge into an opportunity.
GrainPro partners with farmers, cooperatives, processors, and institutions to safeguard harvests, preserve quality, and strengthen food systems through our solutions — helping more food reach the people who need it most.
These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDGs SDGs 1 No Poverty, 2 Zero Hunger, 5 Gender Equality, 12 Responsible Consumption and Production, and 13 Climate Action.
Our Role:
Strengthening Food Systems.
A significant portion of global food is lost after harvest due to pests, mold, moisture, inadequate storage, and outdated post-harvest practices. These losses reduce food availability, undermine farmer incomes, and strain natural resources.
GrainPro addresses this challenge through hermetic post-harvest solutions that protect dry agricultural commodities during drying, storage, and transport. By preserving quality and extending shelf life, we ensure that more of what is grown is safe and accessible.
Through strengthened partnerships with farmers, cooperatives, governments, NGOs, and the private sector, GrainPro delivers reliable solutions designed for real-world conditions, helping communities, markets, and food systems become more resilient and sustainable.

Sustainable Development Goal 1
No Poverty
1 in 10 people worldwide were living in extreme poverty in 2025, and if trends continue, as many as 8.9% of the world’s population will still live in extreme poverty by 2030. Around 1 billion people, or 28% of the workforce, rely on agriculture, and yet smallholder farmers are among those who face poverty, food insecurity, and poor working conditions.
Actions to enhance opportunities are crucial to ending poverty. Recognizing the vital role of smallholder farmers, GrainPro delivers post-harvest solutions that safely preserve dry agricultural commodities. By reducing post-harvest losses, farmers gain steadier incomes and can reinvest in better tools, practices, and production. In 2025, GrainPro supported 144,786 farmers and 868,719 beneficiaries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, preventing over USD 2.2 million in post-harvest losses and strengthening livelihoods.
Sustainable Development Goal 2
Zero Hunger
In 2024, an estimated 1 in 12 people faced hunger, and nearly 2.3 billion people were moderately or severely food insecure. While hunger levels remained the same for three consecutive years, more than 600 million people are still projected to experience hunger in 2030. Investing in agriculture is a crucial step in enhancing food security, building resilience, and addressing hunger and poverty.
Hunger is not driven by low production alone — it is also shaped by what is lost after harvest. Food security means that people have reliable access to safe and nutritious food that meets dietary needs and supports an active, healthy lifestyle. When people are food secure, they can work, learn, and thrive without being held back by hunger or poor nutrition.
While achieving zero hunger is an immense global challenge, safe crop storage is critical to this goal by ensuring no food goes to waste. GrainPro remains firmly committed to building a foodful future, addressing hunger by developing solutions that prevent factors leading to post-harvest losses — spoilage, pest, and moisture — while boosting climate resilience, and ensuring more food is safe, accessible, and fit for consumption all year round.
More than 7.38 million kilograms of crops have been saved in 2025 with the aid of GrainPro post-harvest solutions. Beyond the numbers, each grain saved reflects the value of every harvest and a step closer to SDG 2: Zero Hunger, ensuring that more food reaches markets and tables across the globe.
Sustainable Development Goal 5
Gender Equality
Women represent half of the world’s population and its potential, making gender equality both a fundamental human right and essential to a healthy society. In agriculture, women comprise around 36% of the global agrifood workforce, with up to 66% in sub-Saharan Africa and 71% in Southern Asia. Even so, many lack access to tools, training, and support to improve productivity and safety.
GrainPro helps close this gap by providing post-harvest solutions that also empower women farmers. Apart from reducing labor and improving efficiency, these solutions increase income, strengthen leadership roles, and promote more equitable and inclusive food systems. Furthermore, GrainPro extends this commitment to equal opportunity within its workforce, fostering inclusive professional development and inviting partners to collaborate in building a more food-secure world.
Sustainable Development Goal 12
Responsible Consumption and Production
Ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns is key to sustaining livelihoods today and tomorrow. Beyond preventing food loss, transitioning to a circular economy is vital and requires innovations that enhance durability, repairability, and recyclability, while encouraging reusing and recycling to reduce waste.
Aligned with this goal, GrainPro launched its Plastic Fantastic facility to recycle in-house rejects and Hermetic Bags. Beginning with producing recycled coasters, the facility expanded in 2025 to produce Bean to Pot Planter made from 7–8 repurposed hermetic bags.
GrainPro has also established partnerships aligned with the same commitment to circularity. GrainPro and Gargeon maintain a closed-loop system for recycling used TranSafeliners, collecting 2,000 liners in 2025. The GrainPro and Neumann Kaffee Gruppe recycling project provides recycling access for hermetic bags across the United States and has since expanded to Europe, collecting 93,000 hermetic bags in 2025.
Sustainable Development Goal 13
Climate Action
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) confirmed 2024 to be the hottest year on record and estimated an 80% chance that one of the next five years may surpass this record. As climate change may intensify due to human activity and rising greenhouse gas emissions, climate action can start by supporting communities to adapt to greener practices.
Addressing this factor, GrainPro designed its post-harvest solutions to boost climate resilience, reduce energy dependence, and enable chemical-free preservation. Through Hermetic Technology in storage and transport, GrainPro reduced reliance on chemical fumigation and prevented 917 kg of phosphine use in 2025.
Further aligning to this goal, greenhouse gas reductions from the recycling were estimated using the GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting 2025 from the UK Government, focusing on emissions solely from waste handling and disposal. A total of 214.08 kg CO₂e estimated emissions reduction has been achieved through the recycling programs established by GrainPro and its partners, with an estimated emissions reduction of 65.97 kg CO₂e coming from hermetic bags and 148.11 kg CO₂e from TranSafeliners.

Asia
“Cacao is our future.” — For a small community in Bali, cacao is more than just a crop; it is hope.
The Kalimajari Foundation, an NGO based in Denpasar, works closely with cacao and seaweed farmers in Jembrana. Transitioning to organic storage practices, these farmers faced challenges from humidity, mold, and income loss.
With centralized processing, farmers deliver fresh cacao beans to their cooperative for fermentation, drying, sorting, and storage, maintaining a strict 7% moisture level for market quality. However, rain and humidity would undo their hard work, forcing costly re-drying and risking mold.
Change came when local distributor, PT Cipta, introduced hermetic storage from GrainPro. With this post-harvest innovation, the beans’ moisture was stabilized, quality was preserved, and energy and labor were saved — protecting both the beans and 609 cooperative members and their families.
In India, the Timbaktu Collective has been using GrainPro Bags for the last 8 years to store millets, pulses, and paddy, protecting them from insect infestation while maintaining chemical-free storage in line with their organic practices. This long-term adoption demonstrates the effectiveness and reliability of hermetic storage solutions in supporting sustainable agriculture and safeguarding the quality of staple crops.

United States
As hermetic storage solutions scale globally, responsible end-of-life management of storage materials is critical to reducing waste and minimizing environmental impact. Without structured recycling programs, used storage bags risk entering waste streams rather than contributing to a circular materials economy.
In 2025, the GrainPro and Neumann Gruppe USA recycling program collected over 93,000 used GrainPro bags. These were carefully cleaned, processed, and repurposed as post-consumer resin to produce new GrainPro Standard Protection Bags, closing the loop.
This program supports circular economy practices, reduces plastic waste, and contributes to lower emissions — demonstrating how cross-industry partnerships can turn sustainability commitments into measurable action.
Looking Ahead
GrainPro will continue expanding its impact by helping communities maximize the value of every harvest, focusing on practical post-harvest innovations and services that are accessible and tailored to their needs.
Guided by its 5 Core C’s, GrainPro strengthens its sustainability by embedding responsibility and innovation across its operations.
Collection & Recycling remains a key priority. In the year ahead, end-users will have more opportunities to return used GrainPro Bags or TranSafeliners (container liners) and be rewarded for supporting circularity.
Through Circularity, GrainPro improves traceability and reusability, lowering environmental impact and maximizing resource efficiency. This is reinforced by Compostability efforts to develop eco-friendly alternatives without sacrificing safety or performance.
Addressing Carbon Footprint is equally critical. GrainPro is systematically collecting carbon footprint data guide strategies for reducing and offsetting emissions across its value chain.
At the heart of these efforts is Create — developing new and improved solutions that are more effective, adaptable, and environmentally responsible, from sustainable packaging concepts to accessible storage systems.
These actions are reinforced by the 3 Support Cs.
